Researchers in Work package 1, Study 2, are looking at how current values and ideologies are embedded in guiding documents. Jan Sverre Knudsen and Silje Valde Onsrud have collected local education plans for music in generalist teacher education.
So far, more than 60 plans have been collected from all Norwegian institutions providing this training.
The plans are written in accordance with national guidelines and follow a common structure outlining the expected learning outcome, but they are also marked by local views, aims and scholarly traditions. To supplement the analysis of plans, researchers involved in this study are currently collecting job advertisements from a number of institutions offering music in teacher training.
The next step will be to conduct a comprehensive analysis of document texts based on various analytical approaches.
